Simulmedia Self-Serve offers robust targeting options to help your Streaming TV campaign reach the right viewers. While our platform provides numerous targeting dimensions, we recommend focusing on a few key areas to ensure optimal campaign performance.
Note: Targeting capabilities also vary based on the campaign objectives – you can read more about those in the article about different Campaign Objectives.
Location Targeting
Choose how you want to target your audience geographically using one of two options:
- State & Cities
◦ Search and select locations from a comprehensive list
◦ Choose multiple locations to expand your reach
- ZIP Codes
◦ Add multiple ZIP codes in a comma-separated format (e.g., 12345, 67890)
◦ Easily paste lists of ZIP codes for bulk targeting

Audience Categories
Including vs. Excluding Audiences
Refine your audience based on interests and behaviors using over 200 available segments. Simulmedia Self-Serve's audience data is sourced from our trusted data partners, ensuring a rich and diverse selection of targeting options.
Choose from categories such as:
- Employment status (e.g., “Full-time Employed”)
- Professional occupations (e.g., “Business Owner”)
- Lifestyle choices (e.g., "Is a Vegetarian")
- Dietary Habits and Restaurants (e.g., "Times Ate Fast Food Last 30 Days")
- Shopping behaviors
- And many more
Audience targeting allows you to both include and exclude specific viewer segments to optimize your campaign reach.
- If you include multiple categories, your ad will be shown to viewers who fall into ANY of the selected categories, not necessarily all of them.
- For example, if you include "Have 2 Children in Household" OR "Have 3 Children in Household", your ad will reach people in either category, expanding your potential audience.
- However, if you exclude certain segments ("Home Owner"), those viewers will be filtered out even if they match your included criteria — giving you precise control over who sees your ads (People who have 2 or 3 children but do not own a home).
This combination of OR logic for inclusions and exclusions filtering ensures you can build relevant targeting that matches your ideal audience.
